Funeral services are tending to change from predetermined rituals to ceremonies with personal content. The coffin itself, however, as the central element, remains a barren, sad symbol and creates distance. These funerary coverings give warmth and a personal atmosphere to the place occupied by the person who has died. The design is based on the three themes of involvement, religion and the person himself. They are expressed on the coverings in three different symbols: Involvement: a last greeting or message can be attached to the covering. Religion/Belief: the cross as a gesture of honour. The person: the covering symbolizes the life
of the deceased.
