How many records are still kept boxed away in dusty attics? With ‘Vinyl R/W’, Jens Rasmussen devises a way to re-write music onto these unplayed albums. By placing them in a heat press, the original grooves melt away. They can then be cut afresh using a modified record player. These contemporary versions combine the authentic vinyl vibe to with modern music for a completely new kind of sound. Rasmussen visualises the entire process, creating a DIY production line that anyone can follow. The instructions are openly available, so the world at large can further develop the design.
